Impronta or VdoCipher
VdoCipher protects the file with DRM. Impronta identifies the person: the class carries the student's details, we know who accessed it and we can cut access while they try to download it.
When to choose VdoCipher instead of us
Start here, because if any of these applies the rest of the page does not matter:
- You need certified DRM (Widevine or FairPlay) because a publisher, public body or corporate customer requires it in writing. We do not offer it.
- You sell courses outside an education platform, such as WordPress with LearnDash, Teachable or Kajabi. Our integration is with Moodle; with loose links you would lose part of the protection.
- Your material justifies blocking screen capture in your own mobile app. That requires an app and DRM. We run in the browser, where it cannot be done.
If none applies, keep reading: the difference is larger than a feature table suggests.
DRM solves a problem that may not be yours
DRM makes saving the file difficult, and it does that well. But an academy's syllabus is rarely leaked because someone decrypts a video. It is leaked by an enrolled student with legitimate access who records the screen with a phone and sends it to a group.
DRM cannot prevent that. What does help is for the recording to show the name and ID of the person who made it, and for the academy to know who to contact when it appears.
What happens after a leak
Impronta records who accessed every class and how much they watched for 24 months. When something circulates, you already have history to investigate.
It is not only retrospective: if someone is downloading the syllabus, you can cut access and playback stops in about ten seconds, even halfway through the attempt. Detection is included and the email alert shows the numbers behind it.

You know what your plan includes
Academy use changes sharply before exams and during holidays. Each Impronta plan includes a clear number of watched hours. The dashboard shows consumption. The first 1,000 additional hours cost €0.04/h in Basic and €0.08/h in Professional; after that, we review the next billing period with you.
Your material remains yours. You can keep it in your own storage account. Cancelling does not require a migration or export because the videos never leave your account.
You can hold us to this: the limits of our protection are written down, not hidden in a footnote.
